Arne Schönbohm, President of the Federal Office for Information Security, informed 60 CIOs, CTOs and IT strategists about the current threat posed by Internet crime in Hamburg and Germany at the ITEC Club Evening on 20 August. He appealed to the Senate to cooperate on cyber security for Hamburg infrastructures and in a lively discussion sensitized the representatives of companies, authorities and state enterprises to treat information security with the highest priority.
The Cyber Defense Commissioner of the Federation said after the top meeting in the North German Regatta Association at the Außenalster: "It has been very open and it has justifiably been discussed and asked very critically. I believe this is exactly the way to develop innovations and develop a common understanding. Thank you very much for an excellent evening at the IT-Executive Club in Hamburg."
Following the discussion, our partner HANSEVALLEY was given the opportunity to ask BSI President Schönbohm about cooperation with the Hamburg Senate, among other things. Schönbohm told HANSEVALLEY: "I think it's good that we have something like this in northern Germany too, and we also notice that there's interest on the part of the state government." He also warned against inertia: "I think you have to be very careful here in Hamburg not to lean back complacently and say "let's have a look at this in peace".
